About Mrs. Yeager
Hello everyone! I hope you are ready to have a great year in the 3rd grade! I am looking forward to having another fun year with a new group of awesome third graders.
I always like to share a little bit about myself with parents and my students, so this tab will be dedicated to doing just that for the start of the school year! This tab generally changes into something we will use more often in class as the year goes on and we all become comfortable with one another.
First things first, I am a proud new mommy! My husband, Andrew, and I welcomed our little girl into this crazy world on June the ninth. Harper Jude Yeager came out screaming at 8 pounds 3 ounces and 19.5 inches long. She is our whole world and I am sure you will hear me talk about her plenty throughout the year.
Being a new mommy comes with many firsts for my little family. Because I want to cherish as much time as possible with my girl, I will be taking the first 5 weeks off at the start of the year. No worries though, Darcel McLane will be covering my maternity leave and I will be back before we all know it! I'll be honest in saying the decision to take time off was a tough one for me. Your children become my children from the start of the school year. It was a hard decision to not start the year out with them, but I know I will be more than ready to come back to my class and have a fantastic year! My "come back" date is September 6 :)
Okay, Harper is cute and all, but I am supposed to be telling you more about myself. This will be my third year teaching the third grade at Lanesville Elementary. I love what I do and I put a lot of time, creativity, and heart into teaching my students. Hopefully as the year goes on you will be able to back this statement up :). I am a hands on teacher who loves to find new and more engaging ways to learn. With that being said, I am not a huge fan of homework! I do send homework home, however, the work I send home is to give students extra practice in skills they may be struggling with or to challenge those students who seem to be grasping a skill very well. I am a firm believer of challenge. I will always strive to challenge my students to exceed their own expectations if I know they are capable of doing so.
Along with teaching I also enjoy coaching here at Lanesville. I am currently taking the year off from coaching to spend the time with my family, but I plan on continuing this passion next year. I have coached 5th and 6th grade girl's basketball for Lanesville the past two years and will be going back to one of the two positions.
I am not sure what else to share about myself so I will leave a list of my favorites below just to share a little more about my personal self. Once again, I am looking forward to having a great year with you and your students. Please feel free to contact me at any point throughout the year if questions or concerns arise!
